Dear Mr. Frank:
A few months ago I wrote to you regarding the possibility of doing some work with you. I am a consulting psychologist with 25 years background in a variety of different roles, and have had experience in career testing and counseling.
I am writing to you again to see what opportunities might presently exist to do some part-time consulting work with you.
Since writing to you before, I have been doing some career management consultation work, part-time, with two other firms in the Denver area. However, they use a marketing approach to career development exclusively, which I do not prefer and feel is not fully appropriate for clients.
I think that a solid understanding of an individual's preferences and capabilities, together with a keen awareness of his or her emotional motivations, are needed to help a person implement their career goals. I prefer more of a counseling approach to career development, and as I explained in my previous letter, use a directive approach in my counseling and work with clients.
If your firm has a need, I feel that I can provide assistance to you in such ways as the following:
- Career counseling in helping clients learn to manage their own career development and job search campaign.
- Career testing and assessment of a person's preferences, attitudes, and values.
- Consultation with more difficult clients who are experiencing motivational problems, or are even resisting the efforts of your program.
- Assisting with the difficulties encountered when a client is going through an outplacement process.
I also understand that there appears to be somewhat of a declining market for career services with certain firms in the Denver area. If this has not affected your business, and there is a continuing call for your services, then you might have need for some additional assistance.
If I can be of help to you, and my qualifications are of interest, please contact me so that we might arrange a meeting.
With enthusiasm,
William B. Tyburski
