I wouldn't offer hardened businesspeople a hug after their jobs were eliminated, but I knew Cymberline as a friend as well as client. Many times, in layoff situations, I've expressed a strong willingness to help friends, but they haven't contacted me. Sometimes the willingness itself meets their needs.
