Forgive Invoice In Sympathy

My stepson died in an auto accident at age 18, and his orthodontist forgave the amount we still owed him. I never forgot that gesture of kindness. Later, I had a chance to continue the kindness.

One of the executives we coached died suddenly and unexpectedly. Although we had completed the assignment and submitted an invoice, we withdrew the invoice in sympathy. This wasn't a $25,000-$50,000 invoice, but it wasn't trivial, either—about $2,500.
