Dear Hiring Manager:
I am writing to you regarding your recent advertisement for a Plant Engineer.
In my last position, I was very good at "hands on" trouble-shooting and process development. I am also a "self starter" and am very mechanically inclined. I strive for simple, cost-effective, common sense solutions to technical problems, instead of elaborate schemes to re-invent the wheel. The position that you describe sounds exactly like the kind of job I am seeking.
To make myself more competitive with local applicants, I am willing to pay my own relocation expenses. Because I am currently renting a home, I can relocate without problems and I am available immediately.
I started with Dresser Industries in 20 at $21,500/yr. After 5-1/2 years and three promotions, my salary was $38,500 plus car. In 20 I received a superior Performance Award of $1,350. I was the only engineer out of approximately 15 other candidates to receive this award. I mention my salary history only to show that I am an achiever and have been recognized for my accomplishments. My salary requirement is negotiable.
I would appreciate your time in reviewing my enclosed resume and I would welcome an opportunity to meet with you for a personal interview.
With many thanks,
William D. Zwanzig
