I had helped Rick with his career in the past. Now he wanted to hire us to provide career services to his current employees. Although I knew and liked Rick, I realized that there can be misunderstandings about price quotes. I spelled out my prices in this letter and asked him to return a signed copy. That removed any chance of misunderstanding. Nicely done in only one page.

This is to confirm the discussion we had about our pricing structure. We have agreed to work on a time-and-materials basis until it makes sense to quote a project price. In the meantime, our fees are as follows:
Consulting
Bill Frank - $450/hour
Tim MacDonald - $350/hour
Peggy White (and other Senior Consultants) - $250/hour
Travel
Full Day of Consulting - No Charge
Less Than Full Day - 50% of normal hourly rate
Facilities
You will provide meeting rooms and secretarial support for resumes
