Apology for Being Out of Touch

Because of the crush of business, it's sometimes not possible to speak with everyone who calls, or answer every email. This is never good, but particularly troubling when the person you're avoiding is a business friend, as this consultant is. We renewed our friendship and have kept it going for 33 years. In fact, we  had lunch just last week, six years after I wrote this apology.
Stephen > Sorry to be out of touch . . .

Hi Stephen,
I know you reached out to me several weeks ago, and I apologize for not writing sooner. I've been in a bit of a wind tunnel lately, nothing life-threatening, but time-demanding. My 94-year-old Dad's health is high on the agenda.

I would love to meet and talk, don't have an aversion to lunch, especially with you. I'm a big fan, and have heard more wonderful things about you from Rexana Roth.

Both my adult sons will be visiting until August 23. What if we had lunch on Thursday, August 25. If that doesn't work, T-Th is usually best for me.
What works for you?
