I had known Reynelda for many years, and worked for her at two different companies. When she accepted a new job I called to congratulate her, but she did not return my calls. I wondered if I had offended her in any way. This letter served to congratulate, but also to probe the reason for her silence. I enclosed a copy of the article announcing her new employment. As it turned out, she was merely busy, and we re-connected.

Dear Reynelda,
I tried calling a couple times last week to say hello, and to congratulate you on your new position. I'm interested in hearing the rest of your saga.
I know you're very busy in a new job, but you haven't returned my calls—which is unlike you; so I'm wondering if I've done something to damage our friendship. If I have, I certainly didn't intend it.
At any rate, I caught this announcement in Sunday's paper and thought you might enjoy an extra copy.
My best to you,
William S. Frank
