After Death of Vendor's Spouse

In the days before e-mail and the Internet, Trisha provided secretarial service to our clients, often bulk mailings of several hundred pieces. When I learned about the death of her husband, I sent this short note. I received a lengthy update letter in reply, extending our friendship.

Trisha,

I'm so sorry to learn about Roger. Although I didn't know him well, I loved him, and know you were close. I'm sending you a small book in his memory, one I discovered after my mother's death in 1995. It's quite comforting, and I hope you'll find it helpful.

Trisha, you did outstanding work for us for years. (We don't use secretarial service now; our clients do their own work.)

Just remember, I'm thankful for you, and I love you,

:Bill

Dear Mr. Frank:

I've often wondered if you and CareerLab were still in Denver and going strong.  Your e-mail regarding " The World's Best Quotes . . ." answered those two questions. Thank you for sharing the quotes with me.

I still have my home office, although not doing much work anymore.  So much has happened to clients and to me that I had narrowed my work down to two full-time clients and four or five off-and-on clients.  Still enjoy the work, but I also enjoy the free time.

So much has gone on that I could probably write a Christmas letter to everyone which would result in a short novel.  Suffice it to say, I still have a positive outlook on life.

It was so nice hearing from you.  Take care and have a great holiday season.

Your friend,
Trisha Lenski
