I'm always on the lookout for talented consultants to expand our staff. In this case, I reached out to a friendly competitor to see what he might suggest. My e-mail is followed by his reply.

Rich,
I'm looking for an HR Consultant who would want to join our firm. Not as an outplacement consultant—although he or she might do that—but to broaden our offerings.
A candidate could be from any specialty: organization development, industrial psychology, even recruiting. The best candidate would already have a book of business, and we could mentor and coach them to the next higher level.
If I haven't heard from you in a few days, I'll give you a call to see if you have any thoughts or ideas about people we should contact.
Thanks,
:B

Bill,
Good to see your name "pop-up" on the screen. I hope all is well with you. I've been racking my brain since I received your message on Friday, and am unable to come up with anyone I know to send your way.
I've got to tell you, if I had a "book of business," I'd be beating the door down trying to sell myself to you. I've enjoyed watching you and your company grow through the years. It's a real testimony to the fact that you know our business and you're good at it!
Rich
