Decline Invitation To Club Membership

A friend invited us to join the Metropolitan Club, a private, upscale meeting place for lunch and dinner. A lot of business is conducted there, but it's fancy, so no one drags out papers, briefcases, or computers. We thought the club might make sense for us, but discovered that our well-appointed conference room at CareerLab served just as well for sales presentations. Here is the invitation followed by my reply.

Thank you again for the lovely basket. We certainly enjoyed everything
in it!

Have you decided about joining at the Met Club?  They are probably not going to extend the membership drive.

Thanks,
Alex

Regarding the Metro Club—I love the club! And we've been puzzling about what to do.

We do a lot of PowerPoint presentations here, over lunch, and the staff feels we need to keep that as our focus right now. Therefore, we'll have to wait to join the Metro Club. (Hopefully, not too long.)

You are very kind to make this offer, Alex, and I appreciate you for it. I'm sure one of your other friends will delight in this opportunity.

Many thanks,

:B
