One of my clients was looking for work during a recession, and not having much luck. In addition, his mother had extreme back pain and was facing surgery. He was spending a lot of time as her caregiver. I couldn't do much to affect his career quickly, but I could help him by supporting his mother. I sent her this note along with a vase of flowers.
