Editor's note: After a first sales call, I try to hit the ball into the other person's court very hard, and quickly, within 24 hours. This lets them know you are on the case. It conveys energy and enthusiasm. I like the concept of beginning the job before I'm hired, so in this letter I explain that I'm already getting started. In sales this is called an assumptive close. I assume I've got the work and have already begun the solution.

Alberta,
Eleanor [a CareerLab consultant] and I were excited after yesterday's meeting with you. It was helpful to hear about your personal affinity for career planning, and about AT&Ts interest in moving in that direction. Creating a "career community" is the key to future success.
You've got some good stuff underway. We'll make a spreadsheet of your existing infrastructure, talk to our team, and then contact you about further steps.
In the meantime, we'll study your website and we invite you to check us out at http://www.careerlab.com
Have a terrific weekend,
Bill and Eleanor
