Clarifying Lease Terms

If you've ever signed a 30-page commercial lease, or even a one-page lease for an executive suite, you'll know leases favor the landlord. In most cases, I document transactions with building owners so there can be no mistake about the details of the agreement. The "Very truly yours" complimentary close on this letter suggests that I'm wearing my legal hat. Although I simply sign most letters "Bill," I signed this with my full legal name.

Pursuant to Article V of the FIRST AMENDMENT TO LEASE AGREEMENT, dated June 15, 20—, we hereby elect to have the tenant finish allowance in the amount of $7,500 applied to the first and second month's rent beginning December, 20— and January 20—.
