Gracious Turndown

Markus approached me about a newsletter e-mail system. He gave me a demo, but bulk e-mailing wasn't right for us at the time. This was my way of saying no without slamming doors. Below you'll see his e-mail to me, then my reply. FastMail is a fictitious company.

Dear Bill

It was a pleasure speaking with you about your email marketing opportunity.  I appreciate you considering FastMail as a mailing solution.

In follow-up to our conversation, I have attached two items:  A proposal summarizing the pricing we discussed, as well as a brochure and the case study about Tom Peters.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to speaking with you again in the near future.

Best Regards

Hi Markus,

Thanks for explaining FastMail to me yesterday. It's a good sophisticated system and one I'd like to use. Right now, we're sending infrequent newsletters, so it is not quite practical for us.

We're almost there.  In 3-6 months, our situation could easily change, and I will keep you fully informed.

I'd like nothing more than to become your customer.  Once again, I appreciate your demo—and will communicate your capabilities to the rest of our team.

Many thanks,

:Bill
