Find Permanent Part-Time Work

Some people don't ever want to work full time. Clint Jones is one of them. (So is Nancy Thomas, the attorney whose letter appears on page 21.) Clint does a good job of telling his friends exactly what industries he wants to be involved with. Don't leave people guessing what you want to do. Target a specific market. Make some decisions about where you belong and communicate those decisions to your support group. It's a big mistake to keep your options too open.

Dear Bill,

I have begun to market myself as a personnel manager on a permanent part-time basis to small firms (25-75 employees) in the greater metro area. I am open to any type of organization or industry, but I prefer professional firms such as:
  • Law
  • Medicine
  • Engineering
  • Accounting
  • Financial Planning
  • Dental
  • Architecture

Should you be aware or become aware of any of your business associates, friends, or acquaintances who may be considering the need for a part-time Personnel Manager, I would appreciate your giving me their names to contact personally.

Any assistance or suggestions that you can give me will be appreciated.

Your friend,

Clinton D. Jones
