Yogi Berra was known for funny sayings, one of which was: "Always go to other peoples' funerals, otherwise they won't go to yours."* Applied to consulting, we could say, "Always cheer others' successes, otherwise they won't applaud yours."
That's what this entire section is about: cheerleading others. It's really quite simple. I've found that if I send current and prospective clients small gifts, or friendly notes, they're much more likely to take my calls and give me assignments.
When you congratulate others, your reputation as an upbeat cheerleader contributes to your brand. You become branded as someone who is thoughtful and considerate. And that couldn't hurt.
